Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood Trailer Reveals A Samurai Class

Though it was announced last October, Stormblood hasn't received much love in trailer form. We got word of the Red Mage class a couple of months ago, as well as the inclusion of swimming, the Ananta tribe, and a new raid.  Though the game's latest trailer doesn't show that, either, we do get at least one more detail about the game: You'll be able to play as a Samurai.

The trailer (below) is entirely CG, showing two characters fighting each other in a high-octane battle atop a stone hand in the first half, then showing the samurai class cutting through bullets and decimating an alley in the second. Players who choose to play a Samurai will begin the game at level 50.

Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood launches on June 20.

Swamp Thing Makes A Splash With New Injustice 2 Trailer

NetherRealm Studios dropped a trailer today via IGN announcing Swamp Thing as a playable character in Injustice 2. The fan-favorite character was one of the most requested fighters for the Injustice sequel, and by the looks of the trailer, players should be pleased.

Displaying a new background stage, the trailer spotlights Swamp Thing facing off with Damian Wayne's Robin, utilizing a variety of far-reaching attacks and heavy hits. Some of his special moves include various grab attacks, a dodge which sees him phasing through the ground, and a low projectile where he launches a log at his opponent. It's hard to put a category on his fighting style based solely on the footage, but the waterlogged warrior looks to be shaping up as a formidable fighter in NetherRealm's roster. You can watch the whole trailer below.

Nier: Automata Trailer Focuses On The Fight For Mankind

Square Enix and Platinum Games have teamed up to bring a sequel to 2010's Nier, a bizarre RPG that gained a cult following. The sequel, Nier: Automata, continues the wackiness of the first in a post-apocalyptic setting. Recently, a new trailer was unveiled for the upcoming game.

This teaser puts emphasis on grandiose battles and contrasts them with dramatic moments. Nier: Automata stars protagonists 2B and 9S, who are androids sent to fight off hostile machines on Earth in an attempt to save mankind.

Mini-Doc Trailer For Marvel’s Infinity War Film Features Avengers, Guardians, And Spider-Man

Marvel has dropped a new trailer for their upcoming Infinity War film, detailing some minor (non-spoilery) overarching plot themes, showing off some production and concept art, and putting Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Pratt in the same room.

The trailer doesn't show much footage of the actual film (which the trialer announces is "now in production"), instead acting as a sort of mini-documentary about the film. You get some short snippets of RDJ, Pratt, and Tom Holland on the first day of filming (January 23) talking about their feelings on the film, which is a cool crossover to see. Producer Kevin Feige then talks at length about the setup of the film, why they had to produce Civil War before starting on Infinity War. The trailer also features some concept art and behind-the-scenes shots, including our first look at the Guardians of the Galaxy working together with the Avengers. You can watch the full trailer below.

The Bard’s Tale IV Trailer Showcases Exploration And Combat

The Bard's Tale IV is one of Game Informer's Most Anticipated RPGs of 2017, and with good reason. After a successful Kickstarter campaign back in 2015, developer inXile Entertainment (Wasteland 2) has been hard at work making sure that their latest revival winds up being worthy of its legendary namesake. To that end, they've just released a new video which shows off an in-game first look at what we can expect from combat and exploration.

(Please visit the site to view this media)

At first blush, the game looks like something out of The Elder Scrolls, with first person adventuring within a picturesque fantasy world. Of course, true to the lineage of The Bard's Tale, dialogue is rife with snarky humor and the series' trademark irreverence. Once the player engages a squad of goblins, we finally get a look at the battle system in action. Combat is phase-based, but takes place on the same screen as exploration, and doesn't break the first-person perspective. It's unapologetic in its old-school sensibilities, and longtime fans of the series wouldn't have it any other way.

The Bard's Tale IV launches for PC in October 2017. For more on developer inXile, check out our review of their other big franchise resurrection, Wasteland 2.
