Zero Suit Samus Gets Modded Into Street Fighter V

Here comes a new challenger we can get behind.

Nintendo’s not looking to do much with Samus these days. Fortunately, fans are more than happy to throw her into other games, like Street Fighter V. There is no shortage of hilarious and cool Street Fighter V mods, but this Cammy mod from Khaledantar666 is also pretty great.

Pulp Noir Nintendo Novel Artist Returns With Samus From Metroid

Artist Ástor Alexander, who brought us fantastic interpretations of Link, Midna, Mario, Peach, and BioShock Infinite's Elizabeth on pulp noir novel covers, has returned with a new piece of Samus.

Alexander's Samus piece is more of a romantic sci-fi novel, but it definitely belongs on a shelf next to his previous work.

You can can check out more of Alexander's work on his Tumblr, Behance, and DeviantArt pages, which has a lot more than just video game focused art.

Double-cannon Samus Amiibo fetches $2,500 on eBay

A defective Samus Amiibo proved this week that double the firepower can translate into many more multiples the cash. After discovering the potentially one-of-its-kind figure with two arm cannons rather than the regular one, a lucky Best Buy customer …

From The Game Informer Archives: Samus’ Lost Super Metroid Profile

Game Informer's roots begin in the early '90s. In an era before reliable computer communication, our publication received and archived piles of physical press releases, fact sheets, and other slices from gaming history. Past dives into the GI archives brought up a fact sheet for a canceled 16-bit fighting game based on DC's Lobo and concept art from Twisted Metal. My most recent expedition into the packed filing cabinets revealed a quirky little profile of Nintendo's most beloved bounty hunter: Samus Aran. The long lost profile on Samus touches on her galaxy-protecting power suit and mysterious beauty.

The profile is clearly a promotional material for the impending release of SNES title Super Metroid. It references Samus' successful adventures on the NES and Game Boy, and also points to 1994 as the upcoming release date. This odd piece of concept art shows off Samus' look before becoming the blue-suited blondie we know today. The green-eyed, purple-haired amazonian reveals that her favorite new "weapon" is an X-ray scanner in a faux interview. This brief piece of lost Nintendo memorabilia is a must-see for fans of the series.

Artist Depicts Peach, Zelda, And Samus At Moments Of Leisure

The only time we ever see Nintendo's most famous women are in action, or in prison awaiting help, but artist Caitlin Russell imagines what their lives must be like between game releases.

Russel's portfolio is comprised of mostly original work, but her Icons pieces showcase a trilogy of characters that every fan of video games will know. You can head here to see bigger versions of the images above, as well as the process of creation. They're also available as prints that you can purchase.

Samus’ Eyes Complete This Metroid Prime-Inspired Poster

Here at Game Informer, we are art lovers. And nothing makes our eyeballs as happy as game-inspired works created by fans.

We've featured the work of Stuart Harris before. Not only have we shared his stunning Wind Waker-inspired poster, but we've had the opportunity to interview the Stafford, UK-based artist.

Today, Harris has shared his latest work, inspired by Nintendo's Metroid Prime trilogy. I'm partial to Harris' use of yellow in the lettering and Samus' visor, especially as he's allowed her eyes to be visible underneath the visor.

You can see more of Harris' work on his Red-Corner website

Samus and Link Figma figures articulating stateside this fall

Samus and Link Figma figures articulating stateside this fall

Remember that totally boss Metroid: Other M-style Samus action figure that Figma put into production last year, and how it was only sold in Japan? Well, no longer will you have to go to great personal expense to buy one in a used games store in Akihabara – not that any of us have done that or anything.

Varia Feature Samus, fabric-doesn’t-work-that-way Zero Suit Samus and Skyward Sword-era Link are all receiving new production runs for sale in the US this fall, though no specific release date has been given. Varia Samus and Link can both be pre-ordered for about $ 50 a pop, while Zero Suit Sammy rings up at a whopping $ 100.
