Max Payne 3 ships 4 million, Borderlands 2 on track to be 2K’s best-selling game ever

Borderlands 2 to get level cap increase this year

Max Payne 3 has shipped 4 million units and Borderlands 2 has sent out 6 million units, according to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick during today’s financial conference call.

Borderlands 2 remains on track to become the highest selling release in the history of 2K,” Zelnick said.

That’s 2K Games, which should not be confused with Take-Two’s other child, Rockstar Games, which has a clear highest-selling franchise with Grand Theft Auto. The next installment in that series, GTA 5, is scheduled to drive off with everybody’s money on September 17.

Max Payne 3′s Deathmatch Made In Heaven DLC Available Now

Max Payne 3's final DLC pack, Deathmatch Made in Heaven, is available now. The DLC adds a number of new cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes for $ 9.99. It's available for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Here are the full descriptions for all the new modes, as well a handful of new screenshots.

Run and Stun
One player starts as Saci, Captain Baseball Bat Boy’s nemesis. Saci is a fast, heavily armored character with unlimited stamina and equipped with a Stun Gun and Flash Bangs. Saci adds players to his side with each kill, effectively reducing the number of enemy players on the opposite team. The round ends when the timer runs out or all players are recruited to Saci’s team.

Dead Men Walking
A new cooperative take on Max Payne's classic Dead Man Walking Mode. Players assume the role of Max and Passos to take on waves of increasingly smarter, tougher and better armed enemies. Throughout the match, players earn Grit – a currency used to unlock new areas of the map, pain killers, weapons and weapon attachments.

Time Attack
A new Deathmatch variant that rewards extra points for kills on the higher end of a timer. The timer starts with each kill, lasting 20 seconds. A kill within 2 seconds of the kill timer nets players the maximum score of 10 points. Every 2 seconds, the value of the next kill decreases by 1 point.

Marked Man
Marked Man is a new spin on traditional Deathmatch that rewards players with more XP for taking advantage of Max Payne 3’s Vendetta system. Players earn five points for each Vendetta that they successfully complete and five points for each Vendetta that they survive.

Checkpoint Challenge
A new variant on Arcade Mode that test players’ quickness and skill with an array of new challenges, such as taking out all enemies within a level’s checkpoint with headshots only or explosive kills. Complete a level in Story Mode to unlock its respective Challenge Mode level.

Max Payne 3 ‘Deathmatch Made in Heaven’ adds 4 multiplayer modes

Max Payne 3 'Deathmatch Made in Heaven' adds 4 multiplayer modes

Max Payne 3‘s final DLC package, Deathmatch Made in Heaven, comes to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC tomorrow, January 22, and features four new multiplayer modes: Dead Men Walking, Run and Stun, Marked Man and Time Attack.

Dead Men Walking, a two-player co-op mode, has waves of enemies swarm you and a buddy. Run and Stun features one player as Saci, Captain Baseball Bat Boy’s nemesis, whose goal is to kill each player in the map and turn them to his side. Marked Man makes Vendetta victories five times as lucrative as normal kills in Deathmatch mode; five points for completing a Vendetta and five points for walking away from a Vendetta match with your life. Time Attack applies to Deathmatch, too, adding a countdown clock after each kill: The faster you kill another enemy and string together streaks, the more points you get.

Deathmatch Made in Heaven and its fearsome foursome of multiplayer modes drops tomorrow for $ 10 or 800 MS Points, or free for those with a Rockstar Pass.

Deathmatch Made in Heaven DLC for Max Payne 3 available January 22nd

We reported last week that the final Max Payne 3 DLC will be available tomorrow, January 22nd, for all platforms (Xbox 360, PS3, PC). Rockstar has released more information and said that the DLC Deathmatch Made in Heaven is an action-packed release featuring four new multiplayer modes, which includes the highly-anticipated ‘Dead Men Walking’ two-player co-op mode. This mode will have you and a buddy taking on endless hordes of enemy adversaries, which looks to be featured in the artwork above.

The other multiplayer modes included are ‘Run & Stun’, where a random player is assigned to play as Saci, Captain Baseball Bat Boy’s arch nemesis, who attempts to convert all the players to his team, while the rest of you try to resist his Stun Gun and heavy melee attacks. ‘Marked Man’ adds vendettas that reward player with point multipliers by taking out marked opponents, adding some spice to deathmatch matches. ‘Time Attack’ will reward players in deathmatch with fast kill streaks, so the less time spent between each kill awards bonus points for the next.

Rockstar posted an interactive guide on their Rockstar Newswire that breaks down each mode available in the Max Payne 3: Deathmatch Made in Heaven DLC pack. The pack will be available starting tomorrow on Xbox LIVE for 800 MS points, or $ 9.99 for PS3 (via PSN) and PC gamers. European PS3 players will have to wait until January 30th to grab the new DLC. Rockstar Pass owners will of course get this pack for no additional cost.

Steam Holiday Sale features Awesomenauts, Max Payne and Torchlight

Steam sale Day 13

This year’s Steam Holiday Sale is winding down, but there’s still four more days to practice self-restraint or give into full PC purchasing indulgence.

There’s still four hours to grab Deus Ex: Human Revolution for $ 5. There’s also deep discounts on indie favorites The Binding of Isaac and Terraria at $ 1.49 and $ 3.39, respectively. Alan Wake’s entire very bad vacation is also on sale for $ 9.99.

As for the deals you’ll have a little more time to contemplate: Torchlight, May Payne, Transformers and Total War franchises are all 50 to 75 percent off. The underappreciated Awesomenauts is $ 3.39, which is a great 2D arena game if you’ve got some friends to practice with over the holiday.

Games on Demand sale: Max Payne 3, Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire, Midnight Club: LA

We’re huge fans of the convenience of digital distribution – why trek out to the store like some caveman to buy a plastic disc when we could simply download a game through the innernette? Rockstar is trying to make a case for downloading by discounting four of its top games through Xbox Live’s Games on Demand service.

For today only, you can download LA Noire, Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3 and Midnight Club: LA for 33% off each – that comes out to $ 20 for LA Noire and Red Dead Redemption, $ 40 for Max Payne 3 and $ 10 for Midnight Club: LA. All of the games save for Max Payne 3 are going for more than their Games on Demand sale price on Amazon right now.

Of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention three of these games are included in Rockstar Games Collection 1. The only game not included is Max Payne 3, but that’s fine because Max just loves being the black sheep of the family.
