PS Plus brings Europe Mass Effect 3, DOA5, MGS HD, more next month

European PlayStation Plus subscribers can rub their hands and smack their lips at another decent haul of Instant Collection games in March. For PS3 there’s Mass Effect 3, Dead or Alive 5, and Joe Danger 2: The Movie, while on the way to Vita are Puddle and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, which includes MGS2: Sons of Liberty and MGS3: Snake Eater.

The newbies start rolling out on March 6 with a triple substitution: Mass Effect 3, DOA5, and Joe Danger 2 are in, while Sleeping Dogs, Vanquish, and Limbo depart the service. Next up are the two Vita games, with MGS HD Collection swapping in for Wipeout 2048 on March 13, and Puddle for Lumines Electronic Symphony on March 20.

Those are some very brief runs for Sleeping Dogs, Wipeout 2048, and Lumines ES, which all came to PS Plus in February, so now’s the time to snap them up.

Commander Shepard to get final send off in Mass Effect 3: Citadel

We have reached the final chapter in the Saga of Commander Shepard. Mass Effect 3: Reckoning and Mass Effect 3: Citadel will be the final DLC to conclude the long journey of the Mass Effect protagonist that took us on a wild ride around the galaxy.

Mass Effect 3: Reckoning will be available for download on February 26, and will be free to those who own Mass Effect 3, as long as you download the content within a year (offer expires 2/26/14). The DLC offers up new characters, weapons and upgrades for you to play with in the multiplayer mode.

The single player campaign ends with Mass Effect 3: Citadel, in which BioWare and EA have deemed it “one final, sentimental journey with Commander Shepard and their squad”. I can feel the tears welling up in my eyes! The final journey will have players setting off to explore and discover new locations, but also giving you the opportunity to reconnect with some of your favorite characters from the Mass Effect series. Citadel will be available for download on March 5 for $ 14.99 or 1200 MS Points.

“The team has poured heart and soul into Mass Effect 3: Reckoningand Mass Effect 3: Citadel. As the launch of these chapters near, the feeling around the studio is bittersweet,” said Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series. “We have always been humbled and driven by the passion of our fans for the Mass Effect trilogy. We hope fans will enjoy spending more time with some of their favorite characters — we have certainly enjoyed spending time creating them. We’re excited to release this final sendoff for the trilogy and move forward into the future of the Mass Effect universe.”

BioWare is offering up a sneak peak of the Mass Effect 3: Reckoning DLC on their official Twitch.TV channel at http://www.twitch.tv/bioware. The stream will start February 25 at 9:30AM PST.

Reunite With Your Entourage In Final Mass Effect 3 DLC

Commander Shepard's tale truly comes to an end in Mass Effect 3 with two final downloadable content packs for single-player and multiplayer.

Citadel will thrust players into the center of a conspiracy targeting Commander Shepard. Players will visit the Citadel’s Wards, as well as the Council Archives, as they team up with the cast of the first two games – including fan favorite Urdnot Wrex – to figure out the mystery.

The DLC also adds a casino to test your luck, the Armax Combat Arena, and the ability to furnish Shepard’s living quarters on the Citadel. BioWare also promises the chance to rekindle romances.

Citadel releases on March 5 for 1200 Microsoft Points ($ 15) on Xbox 360, $ 14.99 for PlayStation 3, and 1200 BioWare points ($ 15) for PC.

On the multiplayer front, players will receive Reckoning free of charge on Feb. 26 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Reckoning adds the Geth Juggernaut, Female Turian Raptor, Talon Mercenary, Alliance Infiltration Unit, and a Krogan Warlord to the battle. The Geth Spitfire weapon will also be added, along with six other new weapons.

Mass Effect 3 ‘Reckoning’ and ‘Citadel’ DLC hit Feb. 26, Mar. 5

Mass Effect 3 'Reckoning' and 'Citadel' DLC hit Feb 26, Mar 5

BioWare and EA have announced two more bundles of DLC for Mass Effect 3, with one focused on multiplayer and the other serving as “one final, sentimental journey with Commander Shepard and their squad,” according to the press release.

The first batch of content, “Reckoning,” is a free bundle of multiplayer DLC that’ll be available for free when it lands this Tuesday, February 26. The pack adds new characters, weapons and item upgrades for use in multiplayer, though what any of those things are specifically remains to be seen.

“Citadel,” meanwhile, is Mass Effect 3‘s last chunk of single-player DLC, arriving on March 5 for $ 14.99/1200 MS Points. The pack returns Shepard and crew to (where else) the Citadel, on a mission that will give players the “opportunity to reconnect with some of their favorite characters from all three of the Mass Effect games.” Well, provided you didn’t get them horribly murdered, we figure. You know what you did.

Operation: Heartbreaker brings the Banshees in Mass Effect 3 this weekend

We have two problems with this weekend’s special multiplayer event for Mass Effect 3. First, players have to cope with an abundance of Banshees, the game’s most hated villain that doesn’t have the last name “Shields.” The individual goal this weekend is to earn at least 20,000 points from killing Banshees, netting players a Commendation Pack.

Next, the name of the mission is Operation: Heartbreaker, but there is no Shawn Michaels in sight to superkick said Banshees in the mouth. Our Commander Shepard refers to himself as the “Heart Break Kid,” but it’s just not the same.

[Update]

BioWare's community manager Chris Priestly recently said, via Twitter, that we may learn more about this upcoming DLC soon. Priestly tweeted: "We'll reveal details as soon as the team is comfortable it is locked and complete. Hopefully next week."

We can't wait to hear more.

[Original Story]

Late last year we heard rumblings that BioWare was working on some epic DLC for Mass Effect 3, now the company has started to tease images of the content through twitter.

Producer Michael Gamble recently tweeted the above pic stating "Does not look like a guy you'd want to mess with." While executive producer Casey Hudson tweeted the below picture stating, "Looks like a nice place for some R&R." This has us all the more eager to learn about this upcoming DLC. Hopefully BioWare announces something soon, before our guts dissolve away from excitement.

Mass Effect-Themed Risk Coming This Fall

BioWare's Mass Effect Facebook page has been updated with a prototype picture of Risk: Mass Effect, a new board game from USAopoly. The set is due out in the fall. No game details have been released at this point, but I guessing the piece colors won't be limited to just blue, red, and green.

USAopoly is also releasing board game adaptations of numerous other video game product, including Trivial Pursuit: World of Warcraft, Risk: Plants vs. Zombies, Yahtzee: Pac-Man, and Jenga: Space Invaders. The company's back catalog is loaded with game properties. You can pick up Risk: Metal Gear Solid, Risk: Halo, Risk: Halo Wars, Monopoly: Sonic the Hedgehog, Monopoly: World of Warcraft, Checkers: Super Mario, and Monopoly: Street Fighter right now.

Dark Souls, Mass Effect 3 and more at $20 on Amazon

Portal 2, Dark Souls, Mass Effect 3 and more at $ 20 on Amazon

Amazon has some great, not-so-old games going at just $ 20 this week. Yes, February does initiate two months worth of too-many-games-not-enough-time, but if you’ve yet to try them out, some of these beauties are worth the detour.

Included in the discounted delights are Dark Souls and Mass Effect 3, along with game of the year editions of Fallout 3 and Red Dead Redemption. In terms of value for money, you can’t really beat Grand Theft Auto 4 plus Episodes from Liberty City at that price, and in terms of value for what-the-huh, you can’t beat Wipeout in the Zone.

BioWare producers tease potential Mass Effect 3 DLC

BioWare's Casey Hudson, Mike Gamble tease potential Mass Effect 3 DLC

Last December, BioWare Edmonton confirmed that more DLC is in the works for Mass Effect 3. Today series executive producer Casey Hudson and producer Michael Gamble both teased screens, with no information beyond that.

Above you can see what looks to be the Silversun Strip, a den of future iniquity with a casino and presumably a lot of dancing Asari – we’ve been to enough neo night clubs to know how things work. Past the break, you can see a towering Krogan warrior wielding an equally hulking mace. We’re not sure if the guy is trying to kill ghosts or cockroaches but we wish him godspeed all the same.
