Injustice joins EVO 2013′s lineup, DLC coming to Wii U this summer

Injustice joins EVO 2013's official lineup, Wii U DLC coming this summer

Evolution Championship Series co-founder Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar announced that NetherRealm Studios’ DC superhero brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us is now a featured game in EVO 2013′s official tournament lineup, joining big-name favorites like Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition.

More good news arrived for Injustice fans today, in the form of a release window for the Wii U version’s downloadable content. Responding to fan questions, the game’s official Twitter account revealed that Wii U users will see its first round of DLC for the superhero and villain brawler this summer.

Wii U players were previously left out in the cold as Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners tussled with newcomer Lobo earlier this week. NetherRealm did not detail if the Wii U plans include additional costumes currently exclusive to Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Injustice.

Batgirl is next up in NetherRealm’s DLC release schedule. Two more as-of-yet unannounced characters will join Injustice‘s roster at a later date.

Capcom Arcade Cabinet lineup ends at the beginning

Capcom’s planned releases of games for Capcom Arcade Cabinet come to an end today with Son Son and Pirate Ship Higemaru, illustrating the bizarre trajectory of Capcom’s historical re-releases.

Rather than follow the history of the company in a linear fashion, Capcom released packs of games from 1987, then 1985, 1986, 1985 again, and finally 1984, with bonus games from 1988 and 1984 (Vulgus is Capcom’s first arcade game). It’s easy to overlook the haphazard plan behind these releases in favor of, you know, just enjoying some old games, but now that the push is over we’re looking back for the first time and realizing: Capcom Arcade Cabinet is pretty odd.

Skylanders: Giants adds Thumpback, Eye-Brawl to its lineup

Enjoy the brief rush of giddy, childlike glee you feel upon hearing that Skylanders: Giants has two new characters to show off. The world is dark enough on its own, and that goes double for the internet, so cherish these moments of unadulterated joy. This is now a safe space for love and happiness, though we have no control over the comments section.

Skylanders welcomes the giants Thumpback and Eye-Brawl to its ranks. Thumpback, whose video is shown above, is a water giant and former crew member of a vicious pirate ship called The Phantom Tide. However, after being pulled overboard by the Leviathan Cloud Crab, Thumpback put his pirating days behind him.

Eye-Brawl, shown in the video below, is an undead giant and one of the most powerful Skylanders ever known. Eye-Brawl is a combination of two creatures, the flying eyeball and the headless giant, who joined forces after a staring contest resulted in a stalemate. The eyeball, aside from flying, shoots lasers, which is a cooler talent than blinking anyway.

Dance Central 3 January DLC line-up whips it then drops it to the floor

January’s DLC line-up for Dance Central 3 includes Nicki Minaj’s “Whip It,” Pitbull ft. T-Pain’s “(Hey Baby) Drop It to The Floor,” and Flo Rida’s “Let It Roll.” Whatever ‘It’ is, we’re worried it’s getting an unwarranted amount of abuse. Thankfully the month’s two other downloadable offerings, namely Pitbull ft. Chris Brown’s “International Love” and The Wanted’s “Glad You Came,” are much more affectionate-sounding.

“Whip It,” originally a bonus track available with Walmart pre-orders of the game, is available for all from tomorrow on Xbox Live Marketplace. The two Pitbull tracks follow in a week’s time on January 15, then it’s “Glad You Came” on January 22 and “Let it Roll” on January 29. Each track sets you back 240 MSP, but you can get a couple of doggies on the cheap with Pitbull Pack 01, a bundle of “(Hey Baby) Drop It to The Floor” and “International Love” which woofs in at 400 MSP.

EA Retires Online Services For Its ’11 Sports Lineup

If you are the kind of gamer that likes to wait a year or two to buy your sports games then you might want to know that EA will soon be shutting down it's online servers for many of the games it released a couple years ago.

On January 11, EA will be retiring the online service for the following titles:

  • FIFA Soccer 11 for PC, PS3, Wii & Xbox 360
  • FIFA Soccer 11 Ultimate Team for PS3 & Xbox 360
  • Madden NFL 11 for PS3, Wii & Xbox 360
  • Madden NFL 11 Ultimate Team for PS3 & Xbox 360
  • NBA JAM for PS3 & Xbox 360
  • NBA LIVE 10 for PS3 & Xbox 360
  • NCAA Football 11 for PS3 & Xbox 360
  • NHL 11 for PS3 & Xbox 360
  • NHL 11 Ultimate Team for PS3 & Xbox 360

But that's not all. On January 14, EA will also be shutting down The Sims 2 (PC/Mac, and TheSims2.com) and then January 19 Trenches II for iOS gets the axe.

Considering that NBA Live 10 was the last game release for that series, this means that EA Sports will no longer have any NBA games that feature online play. You'll still be able to play these games offline, but if you're looking to do anymore online play with these titles then you better get your game on now. We mean right meow!
