LEGO Friends coming to 3DS and DS this fall

The never-ending march of LEGO games from Warner Bros. and Traveller’s Tales continues with LEGO Friends. Based on the toy line of the same name, LEGO Friends is aimed at young girls and offers lots of activities as the titular friends explore Heartlake City.

Players can customize their character and living space – right down to the choice of pet and pet accessories – and work to build relationships with their friends, hoping eventually to reach “True Friend” status (aren’t we all?). Activities include things like horse riding, photography, pet training, dancing and, our personal favorite, delivering cupcakes.

LEGO Friends heads to DS and 3DS this fall.

Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures chomps North America this fall

Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures will launch this fall on PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360, with a special side-scrolling version coming to 3DS, Namco Bandai announced. The game takes inspiration from the TV show of the same name, which is slated to begin airing June 17 on Disney XD.

Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures features the iconic yellow character in a 3D adventure game in which he turns into a chameleon at some point, using his tongue to reel in ghosts. In the game’s announcement trailer, Pac-Man also eats entire vending machines. Healthy choices, kids!

New Adventure Time, Regular Show games from WayForward this fall

New Adventure Time, Regular Show games from WayForward this fall

What time is it?! Well, Adventure Time obviously, but it’s also Regular Show time and, most specifically, new games from WayForward time. The house responsible for Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage?!! and Ducktales: Remastered has announced that it will be putting out two new games this fall based on what we believe to be Cartoon Network’s most hilarious/magical franchises.

Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I don’t know! tasks players with exploring the Secret Royal Dungeon underneath the Candy Kingdom. The game features multiple selectable characters, including Finn, Jake, Marceline “and more,” has co-op for up to four players and includes the voices from the show. Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward is once again involved in production, though his specific role is unknown. The game will be available on Wii U, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and 3DS.

Meanwhile, Mordecai and Rigby make their non-iOS gaming debut in Regular Show: Mordecai and Rigby In 8-Bit Land for the 3DS. As the name suggests, our heroes must survive being transported inside of their favorite games, which sounds about right for an episode of Regular Show. The game is being developed “in close collaboration with show creator JG Quintel,” according to the press release.

Pac-Man Returns To Consoles This Fall With Ghostly Adventures

It's been a long time since Pac-Man starred in a new game, but Namco Bandai believes the time is right. Today the publisher announced Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and 3DS.

The game ties in with an upcoming Disney XD series of the same name, in which Pac-Man is the last yellow Pacworlder and, as such, is the savior of his entire race. The plot sounds more serious than the trailer below would have us believe, especially since our hero apparently has a bottomless stomach.

The home console version is a 3D platformer, and the 3DS version will be a side-scrolling experience. Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures will only be coming to North American and Latin America, and Namco Bandai has no current plans to release the title elsewhere.

Look for the television show and the games this fall.

Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate confirmed for Xbox 360, PS3 this fall

Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate is officially heading to Xbox 360 and PS3 this fall as a retail and digital game. This version of Dead or Alive 5 is so Ultimate because it includes modes from the Vita’s Dead or Alive 5 Plus, new stages, new fighters and cameos from Ninja Gaiden – including levels such as Sky City Tokyo and the character Momiji, as was rumored earlier this week.

“The largest lineup in DOA history includes the first ever appearance of Ninja Gaiden’s Momiji, who utilizes the Hayabusa-style Aikijutsu taught to her by the master himself, Ryu Hayabusa,” the Ultimate press release reads. Said lineup also appears to include the return of Leon, a fighter who debuted in Dead or Alive 2.

Thomas Was Alone review: Mastering the inverted fall

On the surface, Thomas Was Alone appears unremarkable. It breaks platforming mechanics down to their most basic levels, quite literally, replacing characters with colored rectangles and environments with precarious arrangements of black rectangles. To reiterate: Thomas Was Alone is a platformer starring a cast of little, colored blocks.

What’s amazing is that, thanks to the a tiny injection of story and a bit of good writing, you may actually start to care about them.

Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers cracks Europe this fall

NIS America is bringing Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers to Europe this fall, hot on the heels of the 3DS game finally being localized in North America. The Atlus dungeon crawler, originally released for the Sega Saturn in 1997, will in turn reach Europe for the first time in around a few months time.

NIS America also confirmed to us a concrete European release date for Imageepoch PS3 RPG Time and Eternity: July 28. That matches up with what Amazon’s been listing for the region, not for the first time for a NIS America game. With that in mind, don’t be surprised if Time and Eternity‘s “summer” window for North America gets upgraded to July 16.

FIFA 14 scores ‘great goals’ on PS3, Xbox 360, PC fall 2013

FIFA 14 announced for PS3, Xbox 360, PC
FIFA 14 will bring “the emotion of scoring great goals” to PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 this fall, EA announced today. It refines the formula of EA Sports’ past soccer games with “Pure Shot” shooting “so players have the intelligence to adjust their stride and approach angle to find the best position for hitting the back of the net.”

There are more new (and newly named) systems involved. “Protect the Ball” lets players block defenders while dribbling; “Teammate Intelligence” is self-explanatory; “Sprint Dribble Turns” allows extra maneuverability while sprinting; “Variable Dribble Touch” adds finer control on dribbling.

Of course, if you’d rather exert your control before the match even starts, you can do so with the new “Global Scouting Network,” a career mode in which you build a network of professional scouts.

Power Rangers Megaforce game morphs with 3DS this fall

New Power Rangers game uses 3DS camera to morph players

Power Rangers Megaforce is taking on the 3DS this fall in North and Latin America, as a side-scrolling action game from Namco Bandai. Players pick a favorite Megaforce Ranger to embody, and with help from the remaining team, they defend the Earth from the Warstar aliens. Yes, you’ll be able to from Megazords.

Players will be able to scan in official Morpher Cards for power-ups in the game, and they can take photos of themselves to transform on-screen into their favorite Rangers.

Power Rangers Megaforce, the TV show, is the current and 20th season of the Power Rangers series, which first aired in the US on August 28, 1993, with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. That’s right, 20 years ago. Namco Bandai has been in charge of some mighty fine Power Rangers games in the past, so here’s hoping this one doesn’t make us feel too old is just as good.

Telltale’s The Walking Dead Season Two On Track For Release This Fall

Rumors swirled today about the release window for Season Two of Telltale’s The Walking Dead. It sparked after Eurogamer's interview with Telltale CEO Dan Connors after The Walking Dead Season One was awarded the Best Story BAFTA Game Award. When asked about the release of the next season of The Walking Dead, according to Eurogamer, Dan Connors responded, “We’re aiming for fall of next year.” This made it seem like it was releasing in fall of 2014.

We reached out to Telltale Games to get confirmation if we’d really have to wait that long to see the fate of our favorite characters. Telltale responded with the following statement:

"The current estimated release window for Season Two of The Walking Dead is for fall of ‘this’ year (2013), and not ‘next’ year (2014) as has been reported after a recent interview. We apologize for any confusion and thank you and all of our fans for your continued excitement for Telltale’s series."

I’m sure fans of The Walking Dead all just breathed a sigh of relief; after all, season one ended with some lingering questions and we just can’t wait that long to see what happens at the top of that hill.
