New Pokémon Are Not Yet Available In Go, But The Promised Update Is Live

The promised update for Pokémon Go is now available, but new Gold & Silver Pokémon are not showing up in the wild yet.

The update changes some UI things (like being able to select Poké Balls and berries more easily), and also gives more clothing options (like being able to remove your hat), but doesn't deliver the big addition yet – new Pokémon.

We'll be keeping an eye on the game to see when the new creatures are available, but for now it's probably a good idea to go ahead and grab the update.

Our Take
It's borderline embarrassing how excited I am to catch new Pokémon.

Rare N64 RPG Ogre Battle 64 Available Now On Wii U Virtual Console

Classic Atlus tactical RPG Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Calibur released today via Nintendo's Virtual Console platform on Wii U. The game costs $ 9.99, and has been previously released though Virtual Console for the Wii.

Ogre Battle 64 is a sequel to the Super Nintendo game Ogre Battle. Played from an isometric perspective, players navigate a colorful fantasy world, commanding troops to do their bidding. Due to its rarity, physical copies of Ogre Battle 64 are usually quite expensive, with complete, near-mint versions fetching upwards of $ 100 online

Our Take
Ogre Battle 64 isn't just rare, it's widely regarded as one of the best tactical RPGs on the system. Thanks to its Virtual Console release, players don't need to shovel out big bucks to try it out.

Bomberman ’94 And Gradius Available Now On Wii U

Nintendo has added two new classic titles to the Wii U's Virtual Console lineup today, with Bomberman '94 and Gradius. While the Gradius series hasn't had an entry since 2008, that hasn't stopped the series from gaining new fans with its classic shoot em' up gameplay. Bomberman '94 takes the classic Bomberman gameplay and adds tag-team matches, as well as strange rideable animals called ROOI, each with various powers that players can use on their journey. Both games are available now for $ 6.99.

Bomberman will also be making his way to the Nintendo's Switch, albeit in lankier, 3D form. For more details, check out our Super Bomberman R preview.

Pokémon Bank Support Now Available For Sun & Moon, Comes With Mew’s Z-Crystal

Pokémon Bank, the pay service that lets players bring their collection of Pocket Monsters between generations, has been been updated to support Pokémon Sun & Moon.

The service lets players bring Pokémon caught in the Virtual Console versions of Red, Blue, & Yellow, as well as Pokémon from Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire and X & Y, into Sun & Moon. Using it before October 7 also awards players Mew's Z-Crystal, Mewnium. For more on the service, head here.

Our Take
I recognize this is for the hardest of hardcore Pokémon players, and it is probably difficult to implement, but I am surprised it was not available at launch for Sun & Moon. I suppose having access to your library of more than three years worth of collected Pokémon might have also broken the game, in terms of challenge, so maybe that's why The Pokémon Company has been withholding it.

Free Trial For Watch Dogs 2 Available On PS4, Coming Soon To Xbox One

Although fellow editor Elise Favis had some issues with the game, Watch Dogs 2 has more than enough promising plot threads and gameplay elements to make it worth a try, if hacking around San Francisco is your thing. And now, you'll be able to have that try free-of-charge without having to borrow a copy from someone.

Available now on PlayStation 4 and coming to Xbox One next week (January 24), the three-hour trial will give players access to all of the game's features, and any progress made within the trail period will carry over if they decide to purchase the full game, though achievements can't be unlocked. Players can also play online multiplayer or co-op, though those features still require Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus. Because the trial includes everything the game has to offer, the download size of the trial will be the full size of the game (around 25-28GB, according to Ubisoft).

[Source: Ubisoft Blog]

Our Take
It's a shame the trial isn't available on PC, but with as easy as something like that would be to hack, I suppose it's reasonable. Still, more games should do this; we seem to get fewer demos of games every year.
