Torchlight 2 Sells Over 2 Million Copies In 2012

The sequel to Runic Games popular Action/RPG Torchlight easliy rivaled Blizzard's Diablo III, but considering how well Torchlight 2 sold, many of you already know that.

Runic Games didn't even want to release Torchlight 2 within the same year as Diablo III, but due to delays, the game was released about four month's after Blizzard's game.

That didn't seem to effect Torchlight 2 sales much, because according to Runic's twitter, "We had an amazing 2012, and proud to say that #Torchlight2 has sold over 1 million units! Thank you! Happy New Year's Eve everyone :) "

If you still havn't checked out the game, you can get it through Steam sale for only $ 15 until January 5.

Fez Goes Multiplatform In 2013

Fez was one of our favorite indie games of the year, but if you don't have an Xbox 360 then you probably haven't had access to it. That changes next year.

In a recent blog post, Fez creator Phil Fish said that he would be porting Fez to other platforms soon.

Fish went on to add, "Beyond that however, the future is uncertain for polytron.  It’s just me now. I could do anything with this company, but i dont know what yet.  There’s a couple of new games in the pipeline, of course.  But there’s also an ambition to do so much more.  I want to design everything!  Maybe not a videogame? Maybe something else entirely."

Sounds kind of odd, but we'll just have to wait and see what Fish decides to do next.

Torchlight 2 sells over a million copies

Metareview Torchlight 2

Runic Games has been relatively quiet since the launch of Torchlight 2 in late September, but the company popped up on this New Year’s Eve to note its game sold over one million units during 2012.

Repeated delays of Torchlight 2 caused inescapable comparisons to the long-awaited Diablo 3, which released earlier in March. The two games were never intended to launch in the same year.

Torchlight 2 is regularly $ 20, but is currently on sale through Steam for $ 15 until January 5.

Only 2 days left on awesome VideoGame bundle

At this very moment there are roughly two days left to purchase one of the greatest videogame bundles that I can remember. Here are just some of the epic titles you could have for less than $ 7:

Dungeon Defenders + all DLC – Currently 50% off on Steam for $ 24.99. This game is the shining star of this bundle, and has sold over 1.5 million copies. It’s available on Xbox, PS3, and mobile devices, but is best played on PC.

The Binding of Isaac + DLC – Currently about 75% off on Steam for $ 2.00.

Legend of Grimrock – Currently 50% off on Steam for $ 7.49.

The Basement Collection – Currently 50% off on Steam for $ 2.00. A bundle  of games from the creator of Super Meat Boy.

Offspring Fling – Currently 50% off on Steam for $ 3.99.

Cave Story+ – Currently 50% off on Steam for $ 4.99.

~And much more. For a bundle this good, you know it has to be a Humble Bundle. We reported this bundle earlier in December, and they have since added a few new games to further sweeten the deal (some of which I mentioned above). If you want to start 2013 off right, I’d say this is a good way to do it!

Check out the video trailer embedded below. If you want to game with me on Dungeon Defenders, you can find my profile link in my bio.

Fez coming to other platforms in 2013

In a sweet “State of the Polytron” post, Fez designer and sole Polytron employee Phil Fish revealed plans to port his cryptographic adventure game to platforms beyond XBLA in 2013, potentially platforms with friendlier policies toward updates.

“Yes, i’ve heard you, dozens of people emailing me everyday telling me how much of an idiot i am for not porting FEZ to everything,” noted Fish. He also teased future developments relating to Disasterpeace’s soundtrack for the game (which you can buy here) and “something about a US branch” of Polytron.

Fish also reaffirmed plans for two more games, and expressed interest in designing non-game projects. “I want to design everything,” he said. “Maybe not a videogame? Maybe something else entirely. I JUST DON’T KNOW.”

Events 2012: PS Vita launch

Sony’s second dedicated portable gaming platform, the PlayStation Vita, launched in North America and Europe back in February, bringing the phrase “rear touch” into our lives. As of this summer, the device had sold 2.2 million units worldwide, putting it behind even the pre-price-drop 3DS.

The first year of the Vita’s life saw the system struggling to find a wide audience, thanks in part to its lack of mainstream appeal – there’s no Monster Hunter in Japan as there was on the PSP, and the Call of Duty game we got was far from system-seller material. Truly great games were there for those who found themselves with the hardware, but those big franchises weren’t there to entice everyone else.
